You
and I were created to know God, personally, and have a relationship with Him. Sin separated us from Holy God but He made a way for us to commune and fellowship with Him, through His Son Jesus Christ (John 3:16).
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
Ready to receive Jesus? Here are simple steps to following Him:
#1
Realize that you are a sinner in need of a savior.
None
of us are good (Romans 3:10) and will always fall miserable short because we
are all sinners (Romans 3:23). We can only become new creations and who we are
supposed to be through Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).
#2
Repent of your sin.
“Repent
of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.” (Acts 3:19)
Confess your sins to God and then turn from living a sinful life. To repent
means to change our direction in life. Instead of running from God, we can run
toward Him. Note: God is not looking for perfection, when you heartily repent
and turn from sin, He will empower you to live for Him (2 Corinthians 5:17).
#3
Recognize that Jesus Christ died on the cross, God raised Him from the dead and He will return one day.
“God
expressed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were
still sinners.” (Romans 5:8). And, if we confess with our mouths, Jesus is
Lord, and believe in our heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be
saved (Romans 10:9). And, He will return one day! "... I go and prepare a place for you. I will come again and take you to myself, that where I am you may be also" (John 14:3).
#4
Receive Jesus Christ and live for Him.
Becoming
a Christian means you now have Christ Himself living in and through you by the
power of the Holy Spirit (John 14:17)! Jesus is standing at the door of your
heart knocking. He says in Revelation 3:30, Behold, I stand at the door and
knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in . . .”
If
you hear Jesus calling you, knocking at the door of your heart, let Him in (Revelation 3:20). Don't worry about how you will live for Him, just surrender your life to Him and He will live through you.
